Live stream won't start

Check YouTube is connected, allow the camera, and remember several destinations at once is on Agency.

What you see

Go live fails, the camera won't open, or the stream ends straight away.

  • Connect a YouTube channel before streaming to YouTube.
  • Streaming to several destinations at once is on the Agency plan. You can go live to YouTube on any plan.
  • You already have a live session in progress.
  • Camera access was denied.
  • No incoming stream — the browser never started publishing.
  • YouTube never received the feed.
  • Custom destinations need an RTMP URL and stream key.

Why it happens

Going live to YouTube works on every plan. Streaming to more than one destination at the same time is on the Agency plan. The browser must be allowed to use your camera, microphone or screen, and only one live session can run at a time.

How to fix it

  1. Connect YouTube in Connections if you haven't.
  2. When the browser asks, allow the camera and microphone (or pick a screen to share). If you blocked it, re-allow it in the browser's site settings and reload.
  3. Choose who can see the broadcast and whether it's made for kids.
  4. If a session is already running, end it before starting another.
  5. On a plan below Agency, stream to YouTube only.
  6. For a custom destination, paste both the RTMP server URL and the stream key. If they came as one line, paste it into the URL box and leave the key blank.
