Upload rejected: file too large or unsupported
Uploads can be up to 1 GB (2 GB into the Library). The type is checked from the file's contents, not its name.
What you see
An upload fails straight away with a size, file type or library message.
- File too large. Maximum upload size is 1 GB.
- File too large. Maximum upload size is 2 GB.
- Unsupported file type. Upload video, audio, images, PDFs, Office documents, or text files (.txt, .md, .csv, .json, .html, …).
- Your library is full (50 items). Delete or process some uploads first.
- The file is empty.
Why it happens
Uploading in Create accepts files up to 1 GB. Staging a file in the Library accepts up to 2 GB, and the Library holds 50 files at a time. Accepted videos are MP4, MOV, AVI, WebM, MKV and M4V; images, audio, PDFs, Office documents and text files are accepted too. The type is read from the file itself, so renaming a file doesn't change it. Images are also checked by content moderation.
How to fix it
- Check the file size. Over 1 GB, stage it in the Library instead (up to 2 GB), or export a smaller copy.
- If the type is refused, re-export the video as MP4 (H.264 video with AAC audio is the safest choice).
- If the Library is full, delete files you've already used, or process them.
- If the file is empty, it didn't finish copying or downloading. Get a fresh copy and try again.
- The same rules apply on every plan. The size cap isn't a plan limit.
