TikTok: privacy and posting options

TikTok requires you to choose who can see the video before posting. Publishing waits until you do.

What you see

Publishing to TikTok stays blocked, the audience list shows only one option, or TikTok options won't load.

  • Couldn't reach TikTok for your posting options.
  • TikTok isn't connected.
  • Only private posting is available for this account right now.
  • Branded content can't be posted privately — choose a wider audience.

Why it happens

TikTok asks the creator to pick the audience and the comment, duet and stitch settings for every direct post. Clepora shows the options TikTok returns for your account and starts with nothing selected. Settings turned off at account level on TikTok can't be switched on for one post. TikTok is on the Creator plan and above, and needs a video.

How to fix it

  1. In the publish dialog, open TikTok settings and choose who can see the video.
  2. Set whether viewers can comment, duet and stitch.
  3. If the post promotes a brand, turn on Disclose post content and choose Your brand, Branded content, or both.
  4. Branded content can't be private. Pick a wider audience.
  5. If options won't load, reconnect TikTok in Connections. You can still publish to your other channels meanwhile.
